TRAORÉ’S WARNING TO AFRICA’S YOUTH: “PRAYER ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH”

Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traoré has delivered a message that is sparking intense debate across Africa: prayer must be accompanied

First of all, I wanted to apologize and ask forgiveness from all believers. Forgive me for what I am going to say. To all atheists, forgive me as well for what I am going to say. The subject may be sensitive. That is what we are used to saying. The subject is sensitive, do not talk about it. But we have spent our time saying that Black people only have emotions. And we are still putting emotions above everything else. There is no sensitive subject, there is no taboo subject. And I have a mission. And if I do not pass the message on to you, the younger ones, I will have betrayed my mission. And I am obliged to pass the message on to you. After this message, perhaps many people will stop liking me, will hate me. Many will not understand the message because their neurons refuse to open up. But I want you, young people, to understand the message, to change your paradigm, to love your homeland, to work for your homeland.

We and the generations above us, many may not understand. Because all young people have not had the chance to receive this kind of message from their leaders or from the country’s public figures. So listen to me very carefully. Why was I talking about believers and atheists? Because I believe in God. I believe in a God who created this world. All the more so because if, even today, we have not been able to go from inert matter to the living cell, it is because there must necessarily be a God, and I think the scientists here present will tell us how complex DNA is. Others say that the way DNA is encoded is billions of times more complex than the most complex computer. Which means that there must necessarily be a supreme being. And I suppose those who studied biology know the biological principle LUCA. Is that right? Isn’t that so, Mr. Minister? The last universal common ancestor. And if you read about this principle, LUCA, you will understand that there must necessarily be a God, since we have not managed to go from inert matter to living matter.

Believing in God does not necessarily mean what we are doing today. And I want to talk about religions. The poor understanding of religions, the bad teaching of religions. I insist: the poor understanding of religions and the bad teaching of religions for sinister purposes, for political purposes, for purposes of domination. You must be clear-headed, young people. I am speaking to you here in this room, I am speaking to the Scots, I think, because he lost his parents a little earlier. But he said that when the Whites arrived, we had the land, they had the Bible. They taught us to pray with our eyes closed. And when we opened our eyes, the Whites had the land and we had the Bible. Do you understand the full meaning of his message? Let us not just read the quotations. Let us read the message’s full meaning.

They will tell you everywhere. Blessed are the poor, they will be received in paradise. And even in Islam, they will tell you. Just do it. Think about tomorrow, that is, the hereafter, when you die, paradise. Life on earth here, well-being, comfort, luxury, and everything else, that is not important. So they lead you not to seek self-improvement, not to seek to work, not to seek, to remain stagnant. And they advise you to find yourselves in mosques, in temples, in churches, waiting for everything from God. God will not come to give you what you want. If He created you with a brain and limbs, it is so that you can make use of them, to be useful to yourself, your family, and your community. For a being that is not useful to the world, that is not useful to its community, I would say it is an enemy of God.

I told Waïbia that God is angry with Black people. People did not understand. I explained a little. Because we refuse to use our brains to work. And it is as if were telling God that He was wrong to give us intelligence. And Black people sit and still wait for everything from God. It is because He was wrong to give us intelligence. And Black people sit and still wait for everything from God. It is because were programmed to wait for everything from God. And God does not like that. You are intelligent. Here you are today. The best. You have intelligence. You must use your intelligence for yourself, your family, and your homeland. That is to say, the community in which you live. If you bring nothing more to your community, you are an enemy of God.

And the pursuit of this knowledge must be constant. If someone tells you to sit and wait for God’s miracle, that is false; they are deceiving you. Persevere. Improve yourself. Seek knowledge. Do you understand me? If someone tells you to go sit and wait for your pittance to come from God, that person is your enemy. You have to work hard. As long as you do not fight, God does not accompany you. Some, some religious leaders will tell you this, but they themselves live in luxury. Should that not make you think? And those who do this, I also urge to change their behavior. Do not put our youth to sleep. On the contrary, make them work. And I congratulate and encourage all those who are priests, imams, pastors, or others, but who do something else, who work.
